Midsalip sits in the interior of Zamboanga del Sur, ringed by forested ridges and given over to farmland. It has no coastline — what it has is underground, agricultural and cultural.
Natural heritage
A cave system of chambers and passages with stalactite and stalagmite formations, reached on foot through forest. It sheltered residents during the Second World War. Both easier walk-through routes and more demanding spelunking are described by visitors.

Landscape
Midsalip is landlocked farmland: terraced rice paddies laid out between earth dikes, coconut and banana along the field edges, and a forested mountain ridge closing the valley. Rice, corn and cattle appear on the municipal seal for this reason.
Culture
Subanen dress, dance and music are part of the municipality's public celebrations, performed at the Municipal Hall grounds and in the fields.

Civic landmark
The seat of local government and the municipality's most recognisable building — a columned civic hall in red and green with a broad flight of entrance steps, and the usual gathering point for public events.
